「〜がある／いる」を自然に伝える表現を身につける。
There is/areとは、「〜がある/いる」を表す存在文です。
『〜がある/いる』を言うときは there is / there are を使います。
単数/不可算は there is、複数は there are。
文頭の there は「場所」を表す語ではなく、「存在を導入する合図(ダミー主語)」です。場所は文末に置きます。
会話や描写で「何が存在するか」を紹介するときによく使います。
時制に合わせて there was / there were / there will be なども使います。
文法ルール
単数名詞・不可算名詞には There is、複数名詞には There are を使います。過去形は There was / There were、未来形は There will be / There is going to be になります。名詞の数と時制に合わせて正しく選びましょう。

ソファの上に猫がいます。
解説: 単数名詞（a cat）なので There is を使います。場所（on the sofa）は文末に置きます。
There are many students in the classroom.
教室にはたくさんの学生がいます。
解説: 複数名詞（students）なので There are を使います。many は複数を表す語です。
There was heavy rain last night.
昨夜、大雨が降りました。
解説: 過去形で単数なので There was を使います。last night（昨夜）という過去の時間表現と一緒に使います。
文法ルール
否定文は There isn't ... / There aren't ... の形で「〜がない」を表します。疑問文は Is there ...? / Are there ...? の形で確認します。答え方は Yes, there is. / No, there aren't. です。短縮形も会話でよく使われます。

文法ルール
There is / There are の文では、場所や追加情報を文末に付けて「どこに」「どんな状態で」存在するかを説明します。in / on / under などの前置詞を使って場所を示したり、形容詞や説明を加えたりすることで、より具体的に状況を伝えられます。

私の家の近くに公園があります。
解説: near my house（私の家の近く）という場所情報を文末に付けて、どこにあるかを説明しています。

テーブルの上に本が何冊かあります。
解説: on the table（テーブルの上）で場所を、some で「いくつか」という量を表しています。

明日の朝、会議があります。
解説: 未来形 There will be と時間表現 tomorrow morning を組み合わせて、未来の予定を表しています。
