「〜の間で」を表す among / between の違い・使い分け

どちらも「〜の間で」ですが、対象の数が違います。 between は2つ（2人）の間、among は3つ（3人）以上の間で使います。

Point

「A と B の間」のように対象を1つずつ言うときは、3つ以上でも between A, B and C のように between を使うことがあります（対象を個別に意識する言い方）。

between を使うとき

2つのもの、2人の人の「間」を表すときに使います。

There is a park between my house and the station.

私の家と駅の間に公園があります。

Keep this secret between you and me.

これは私とあなただけの秘密にしておいて。

3人以上の人、3つ以上のものの集まりの「中で」を表すときに使います。一つひとつを区別せず、全体の中の位置づけを言うときに使います。

This song is popular among teenagers.

この歌は10代の若者たちの間で人気です。

I saw a familiar face among the crowd.

群衆の中に見覚えのある顔を見つけました。

This song is popular between teenagers.

This song is popular among teenagers.

teenagers（10代の若者たち）は3人以上の集まりなので between ではなく among を使います。

There is a park among my house and the station.

There is a park between my house and the station.

my house と the station の2つの間なので among ではなく between を使います。
